DIY wallpapering needn't be as hard as it may seem.  Modern wallpapers and paste the wall technology make it easier than ever to achieve a glamorous look in your home.

What you need

Basic equipment includes:

  • paint roller or brushes
  • straight edge
  • smoother
  • scissors and a knife with a sharp blade
  • sponges
  • water trough
  • tape measure
  • plumb-line or plumb bob
  • the right adhesive and size
  • ladder
  • bucket
  • drop cloth

    Wallpaper Adhesives and Size

    Colourplus are stockists of premium wallpaper adhesives.  The SHUR-STIK size and wallpaper adhesives (pastes) and METYLAN SPECIAL adhesives have been specifically selected by Colourplus to ensure you get the best quality products available.  This will make installing the wallpaper you choose easy. 

    Size is a surface coating that helps secure the paper to the wall. Sizing makes putting up wallpaper and removing it later easier.

     

    Quick tip:  Always start hanging wallpaper near the main source of natural light, and work away from it, finishing in a discreet area, such as behind a door.
