From Feature to Statement - A Design Story

Over the last 10 years we have seen a growing trend towards using wallpaper as a feature on one wall, in the past this has meant using a deeper tone, texture or complimentary colour to break up the room and give it some interest. But things are changing. The latest trends from Europe are for bold statements on one or more walls in the room, using designs with large motifs such as leaves, florals and Rococo medallions or Retro geometric patterns - the object is to create that “wow” factor, even using 2 or more co coordinating patterns in one room is no longer unusual. If space is a factor then just a single dramatic strip, strategically placed for maximum impact, adds a new dimension to any room.

Over the years wallpapering has been hard work involving pasting large strips of paper, lots of waiting around and the inevitable “bubbles,” but with the next generation wallcoverings now available this is a thing of the past, technology has developed a non woven backing which means the paste can now be applied directly to the wall leaving you with dry paper to hang.  This makes the job much easier and quicker - no mess, and no waiting. There is no need to pre cut lengths, you can work straight off the roll and as the non woven backing doesn’t move once it’s on the wall there are no peaking edges, shrunken seams or bubbles once it is smoothed into place.
